Sharrow Dental is owned and directed by Dr Tony Clough, who has gone to great lengths throughout his career to expand his knowledge and skills in diagnosis and treatment of oral conditions. During this time, Dr Clough has always sought to surround himself with likeminded and able dentists, hygienists, therapists and nurses who are able to deliver his vision and achieve reliable, pain-free results for our patients!

Tony Clough is the Clinical Director of Sharrow Dental Care, Advent and Springfield Dental Care; under his guidance the group has grown and developed into the largest and most influential oral health service provider in Essex, operating across three sites in Chelmsford.
Dr Clough served for 24 years as a Postgraduate dental tutor, while combining this role with teaching at the Royal London Hospital dental school, the University of Essex and coordinating the Diploma in Sports Dentistry course at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute in London. He also continues as the elected representative of the 1500 dentists in Essex, having fulfilled the role for 16 years.
Tony is joined within the practice by his two sons, Frank and Tom, his nephew, Anthony Barrett, and daughter-in-law, Pip Clough.
Through his involvement in sports dentistry, Dr Clough currently works with the British Boxing team, providing advice, protective equipment and dental care as required. He has acted as Dental Advisor on behalf of the International Olympic Committee Medical Commission in every Olympic games since Beijing 2008.
In recognition of his expertise, Dr Clough has hosted Dental Workshops for Sports Physicians during the last two “IOC Forums on Health and Injury in Sport”. He is a contributing author to both the FIFA and IOC Sport Medicine Diploma programs, and recently co-authored a major review of Dental Injuries in Sport for the Medical Clinics of North America. He continues to lecture widely including the Middle East AEEDEC (Dubai) Conference and recently for the Advanced Sports Physician FIMS / FIFA course in Portugal in September 2017.
Clinically, Tony is responsible for undertaking much of the complicated surgery within the Practice including implant surgery and bone grafting procedures.
His main interests are:
- Prosthetic reconstruction using dental implants;
- Trauma surgery – immediate and long-term management;
- Joint cases combining orthodontic and restorative aspects;
- General aesthetic dental work to give his patients their beautiful smiles back!
Tony has a particular interest in the field of dental traumatology and through his affiliation with sports teams and athletes, he has garnered a wealth of experience over the years in managing dental trauma in the immediate aftermath, through to rehabilitation and long-term follow-up.

DR DEEPAM PATEL

Dr Deepam Patel qualified with distinction from Bart’s & The London Medical & Dental School (QMUL) in 2002 and has been a valuable member of the team for over 24 years. In that time, he has built a wealth of experience in general dental practice and now focuses primarily on implant and restorative dentistry, including the treatment of complex and multidisciplinary cases.
Deepam has been placing and restoring dental implants since 2007 and has now placed and restored more than 3,000 implants. He accepts private referrals and particularly enjoys helping patients with missing or failing teeth and finding practical, long-term solutions to restore function, confidence and their smile.
Deepam holds the prestigious Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and completed his Master’s Degree with distinction in Implant Dentistry at the University of Warwick. He has also served a four-year term on the Implant Dentistry Advisory Board at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and contributed as an Honorary Teacher on the University of Warwick’s Master’s programme.
He is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and an ITI Study Club Director for Essex, where he is actively involved in the education and mentoring of other dental professionals.
Despite his extensive experience, Deepam believes strongly in keeping dentistry straightforward and understandable. He is known for his calm manner, clear communication and honest, practical approach to treatment planning, taking time to explain the available options and help patients feel comfortable and confident about their care.
Outside dentistry, Deepam enjoys sport, especially golf and football. He is married with two children and has lived most of his life in Essex.

DR ANTHONY BARRETT

Anthony graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2007 and joined Sharrow Dental as a Foundation Dentist. Since then, he has become a valued member of the team, building long-standing relationships with patients and providing high-quality, patient-centred care.
He enjoys all aspects of clinical practice, with particular interests in restorative dentistry and the treatment of gum disease. Committed to lifelong learning, Anthony has achieved Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Education, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Periodontology. He is also currently undertaking further postgraduate training in dental implantology.
Alongside his clinical work, Anthony is passionate about mentoring and developing the next generation of dental professionals. He has been an Educational Supervisor for Foundation Dentists, Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists for several years, supporting newly qualified colleagues as they develop their clinical confidence, technical skills and professional judgement.
Known for his friendly and approachable manner, Anthony takes time to listen to his patients, ensuring they understand their treatment options and feel involved in decisions about their oral health.
Outside of work, Anthony enjoys endurance sports, having completed several marathons, including London, Paris, Rome and Manchester, as well as long-distance cycling tours across Europe, including cycling the length of Portugal. He also enjoys weight training, HYROX events and spending quality time with his family. As a lifelong Everton supporter, he regularly attends matches with his son.

Maddy graduated 10 years ago from the university of Leeds. Following this she was accepted to further her training in hospital, being chosen for a highly sort after position in London and Surrey. Here she gained further experience in oral surgery, special care, paediatric and complex restorative dentistry.
She is passionate about delivering high standard of care to her patients and has undertaken further courses to keep up with new techniques.
She enjoys all aspects of dentistry particularly those that enhance patients’ smiles such as: veneers, bonding and whitening. She also provides clear aligners to straighten teeth and has a great portfolio of happy patients.
Maddy prides herself at making nervous and anxious patients feel at ease.
She offers conscious sedation to those that need it.

Francesca graduated from King’s College London Dental Institute, coming out as the ‘‘best graduating-dentist in London’’ with the prestigious University of London Gold Medal for Dentistry. She continues to update her knowledge and skills with ongoing courses and professional development.
Francesca likes to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere to put her nervous patients at ease and offers sedation to those patients who might need some help to make their treatment more manageable.
Aside from dentistry, Francesca enjoys using a range of facial aesthetic treatments to help patients feel like themselves again.
Outside of work she looks after her two young children and enjoys baking, Pilates and spending time with friends and family.

Kulvir graduated from Barts & the London and went on to complete his vocational training in London. He then went on and completed one year doing Maxillofacial Surgery in Cardiff.
Kulvir enjoys all aspects of dentistry including restorative dentistry, oral surgery and periodontal care. Kulvir is aiming to progress his dental knowledge and skills in Oral and Periodontal Surgery.

Dr Khabir Sehmi

Khabir graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2019. After achieving a top 10 national ranking in the Dental Foundation Training (DFT) recruitment process, he completed his foundation training in London before spending over three years practising in Essex. He joined the team at Sharrow Dental Practice in February 2023.
Khabir enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles. He takes pride in creating a relaxed, welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their dental concerns and treatment options.
Committed to providing the highest standard of care, Khabir has completed a 2 year course in Advanced Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics with Aspire Dental Academy. He is also undertaking further postgraduate training in Dental Implantology. His ongoing training allows him to offer the latest evidence-based techniques in restorative, cosmetic and endodontic treatments.

Dr Joe Gallagher

Joe graduated from King’s College London in 2019 and completed his dental foundation training in his hometown of Middlesbrough. Following this, he went on to further his skills and knowledge through completing the Royal College of Surgeons MFDS Part 2 exam by spending a year as a trainee in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Cumberland Infirmary.
He enjoys restorative dentistry and working with nervous patients, having a calm approach to make them feel at ease.
In 2025 Joe completed the Advanced Operative Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry course with the Aspire Dental Academy and in 2026 he began training in the placement of implants with the Campbell Academy.

Abby has been a member of the Sharrow Dental team for 25 years.
She has fulfilled numerous roles including dental nurse and practice manager culminating in qualifying as a dental hygienist/therapist from the Royal London Hospital in 2010.
Abby prides herself on building good relationships with her patients and treating them in a relaxed and comfortable manner.

Katie Huntley

Katie studied at the University of Essex and graduated with a degree in Oral Health Science. She has recently taken on the role of Clinical Educator to guide and help students from the University of Essex achieve their qualification. Bonnie Hoyte

Bonnie has worked with DR Clough since 2004, starting out as a dental nurse. She qualified as a dental hygienist from the University of Essex in 2014.Since qualifying Bonnie has become a clinical educator, dedicating her time to train the students to the highest standards.
Alongside Dental hygiene bonnie has a great passion for facial aesthetics. She has been on numerous advanced courses and practices a wide range of aesthetics, always keeping herself current and keen to gain knowledge of new techniques.

Irmina Jonutiene

Irmina started her career in dentistry in 2015 as a dental nurse. Irmina graduated as a Dental Hygienist Therapist from King’s College London.
After qualifying as Dental Therapist Irmina successfully completed foundation training for dental therapists at Sharrow dental practice where she was able to utilise her full scope of practice, treating adults and children.
Irmina puts huge emphasis on prevention and helps patients to improve their oral health from an early age.

Lottie Underwood
Dental Hygienist
Lottie qualified with a distinction as a Dental Hygienist, from the University of Essex in 2025. After completing a student placement at Sharrow in 2022, she was delighted to return to the Sharrow Dental Group as a member of the team. Lottie takes pride in providing excellent patient care and ensuring her treatments reflect the latest evidence-based research and techniques. She is particularly skilled at supporting and treating patients with dental anxiety and helping them feel comfortable during their visits.
