Sharrow Dental is owned and directed by Dr Tony Clough, who has gone to great lengths throughout his career to expand his knowledge and skills in diagnosis and treatment of oral conditions. During this time, Dr Clough has always sought to surround himself with likeminded and able dentists, hygienists, therapists and nurses who are able to deliver his vision and achieve reliable, pain-free results for our patients!

Tony Clough is the Clinical Director of Sharrow Dental Care, Advent and Springfield Dental Care; under his guidance the group has grown and developed into the largest and most influential oral health service provider in Essex, operating across three sites in Chelmsford.
Dr Clough served for 24 years as a Postgraduate dental tutor, while combining this role with teaching at the Royal London Hospital dental school, the University of Essex and coordinating the Diploma in Sports Dentistry course at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute in London. He also continues as the elected representative of the 1500 dentists in Essex, having fulfilled the role for 16 years.
Tony is joined within the practice by his two sons, Frank and Tom, his nephew, Anthony Barrett, and daughter-in-law, Pip Clough.
Through his involvement in sports dentistry, Dr Clough currently works with the British Boxing team, providing advice, protective equipment and dental care as required. He has acted as Dental Advisor on behalf of the International Olympic Committee Medical Commission in every Olympic games since Beijing 2008.
In recognition of his expertise, Dr Clough has hosted Dental Workshops for Sports Physicians during the last two “IOC Forums on Health and Injury in Sport”. He is a contributing author to both the FIFA and IOC Sport Medicine Diploma programs, and recently co-authored a major review of Dental Injuries in Sport for the Medical Clinics of North America. He continues to lecture widely including the Middle East AEEDEC (Dubai) Conference and recently for the Advanced Sports Physician FIMS / FIFA course in Portugal in September 2017.
Clinically, Tony is responsible for undertaking much of the complicated surgery within the Practice including implant surgery and bone grafting procedures.
His main interests are:
- Prosthetic reconstruction using dental implants;
- Trauma surgery – immediate and long-term management;
- Joint cases combining orthodontic and restorative aspects;
- General aesthetic dental work to give his patients their beautiful smiles back!
Tony has a particular interest in the field of dental traumatology and through his affiliation with sports teams and athletes, he has garnered a wealth of experience over the years in managing dental trauma in the immediate aftermath, through to rehabilitation and long-term follow-up.

DR DEEPAM PATEL

Deepam has been a dentist at Sharrow Dental since 2002. During this time he has gained extensive experience in all aspects of Dentistry and has a special interest in Implant Dentistry with 10 years’ experience.
By way of training and continued learning, he has attained the highly regarded Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, where he is a member of the Implant Dentistry Advisory Board. In addition to this, he has attained a Masters Degree with Distinction in Implant Dentistry from the University of Warwick, where he holds an Honorary Teaching position on the Masters Degree program.
Deepam has built his reputation at Sharrow through the belief in excellent communication and treatment planning, along with caring and painless treatment.

DR ANTHONY BARRETT

Anthony graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2007. After graduating he joined Sharrow Dental as a vocational trainee and has been a key member of the team here ever since.
He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and believes strongly in furthering himself through post graduate education. He has done this through gaining qualifications such as Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties and a post graduate certificate in dental education which he plans to use by taking in foundation dentists to help them learn the ropes here at Sharrow Dental.
Aside from dentistry he enjoys all sports, after injury curtailed his rugby career he has taken to running and cycling having recently completed the London and Manchester marathons and cycling tours from London to Paris and through Italy.

DR IAN PATERSON

Ian has been providing dental care in Essex since graduating in 2008. Having developed an interest in Orthodontics he was awarded the post graduate certificate from Warwick University in 2014. He has gone on to train in Invisalign, Inman aligners and lingual braces as well as more traditional Orthodontics. Ian is currently a silver level Invisalign provider having treated over 150 patients and is an associate member of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry.
Ian has a passion for providing minimally invasive, beautiful dentistry and Orthodontics in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

DR MADDY WEERAMAN

Maddy has recently joined the practice after relocating from London. She trained at the University of Leeds and prides herself on making anxious patients feel comfortable.
She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially cosmetic dentistry. She undertook and successfully passed the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties examinations with the Royal College of Surgeons.
Following this she wanted to progress her career further to enable her to provide the best care possible to her patients, and therefore completed the diploma in Primary Dental Care. Maddy is now enrolled on the well renowned Aspire Dental Academy yearlong programme which equips her to provide a high standard of restorative and aesthetic dental treatment, including short-term orthodontics.

FRANCESCA LAXTON

Francesca is a caring professional with a passion for high-quality general dentistry. She loves treating children and takes time to ensure her nervous patients are put at ease with her gentle approach.
She graduated from King’s College London Dental Institute with the highly prestigious ‘University of London Gold Medal for Dentistry’ and is dedicated to continuing her post-graduate development with further courses and seminars.
Outside of work Francesca looks after her young daughter, enjoys baking, Pilates and spending time with friends and family.

DR FRANK CLOUGH

Frank enjoys practicing ‘minimally invasive dentistry’, especially management of the worn dentition using tooth-coloured filling materials and replacement of missing teeth with removable dentures. He has a keen interest in digital innovations in dentistry, offering CEREC restorations designed by CAD-CAM technology. He is currently undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Leadership and Commissioning at Brighton School of Medical Sciences.
Frank offers conscious sedation to help manage anxious patients.
As a qualified ski instructor, Frank enjoys skiing in his holidays and likes to spend his weekends running and cycling.
DR Kulvir Guram

Kulvir graduated from Barts & the London and went on to complete his vocational training in London. He then went on and completed one year doing Maxillofacial Surgery in Cardiff.
Kulvir enjoys all aspects of dentistry including restorative dentistry, oral surgery and periodontal care. Kulvir is aiming to progress his dental knowledge and skills in Oral and Periodontal Surgery.
Aside dentistry, Kulvir enjoys going to the gym, eating out and spending time with his family and friends. He is also an avid musician, playing both Piano and Trumpet.

Abby has been a member of the Sharrow Dental team for 19 years.
She has fulfilled numerous roles including dental nurse and practice manager culminating in qualifying as a dental hygienist/therapist from the Royal London Hospital in 2010.
Abby prides herself on building good relationships with her patients and treating them in a relaxed and comfortable manner.
In her spare time Abby loves taking long walks with her dog, eating out and socialising with friends and family.
Katie Huntley

Katie studied at the University of Essex and graduated with a degree in Oral Health Science. She has a caring and empathetic manor when treating patients making each patient feel as comfortable as possible – everyone leaves with a smile on their face even if they didn’t start an appointment with one. She has recently taken on the role of Clinical Educator to guide and help students from the University of Essex achieve their qualification. In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Sophie Mayes

Sophie began her time at Sharrow Dental Care on placement as a Student Dental Hygienist. Upon completion of her studies in 2020, Sophie was welcomed back by Mr Clough and now works across both Sharrow and Advent dental practices.
Sophie takes pride in providing a high standard of care. Adopting a methodical, educational and holistic approach in treating periodontal (gum) disease.
Bonnie Hoyte

Bonnie has worked with DR Clough since 2004, starting out as a dental nurse. She qualified as a dental hygienist from the University of Essex in 2014.Since qualifying Bonnie has become a clinical educator, dedicating her time to train the students to the highest standards.
Alongside Dental hygiene bonnie has a great passion for facial aesthetics. She has been on numerous advanced courses and practices a wide range of aesthetics, always keeping herself current and keen to gain knowledge of new techniques.
In her spare time Bonnie is a busy mother of 3 children. She loves football, bike rides and spending quality time with her family.
